Ask your assistant to send research, a brief or an article to Readcast. It arrives as a private episode in Apple Podcasts, Overcast, Pocket Casts or any podcast app that adds shows by URL.
Word for word, or a conversation
Readcast reads what your assistant sends as written. Ask for a conversation, and two hosts discuss it instead.
In the podcast app you use
Episodes usually take a few minutes and arrive in your private feed with show notes. Nothing is made public.
Every morning, if you like
A scheduled task in ChatGPT or Claude can do the research and send you a brief each day.
Set it up
Add the connection link to your app once. The app then sends you to Readcast to sign in and approve access, so you never give it your password or an API key.
Connection linkhttps://mcp.readcast.io/mcp
Every app uses this same link.

Available on all plans · Workspace controls may apply
Open Settings → Security and login and enable Developer mode. A workspace administrator may need to allow it first.
Open Settings → Plugins, select +, and name the app “Readcast.”
Paste the connection link as the MCP server URL, then select Create.
In a new chat, select + → More → Readcast and approve access when prompted.
Add the connection link as a Streamable HTTP server and choose OAuth when the app asks how to sign in.
Need a local server or an API key instead? Sign in and open Connect AI apps; the advanced setup there covers both. Writing your own client? The HTTP API is described in an OpenAPI document that API tools and code generators can read.
Free accounts link Google first.
Using Readcast from an AI app on the free plan needs a verified email address and a Google account linked to Readcast, so each free allowance belongs to one person. Sign up with Google, or link Google from the approval screen when you connect. Paid plans connect with any sign-in.

Permissions
Readcast signs apps in with OAuth 2.0. When you connect one, you approve it on a Readcast page and it is granted the scopes it asks for, both of these when it asks for neither. The approval page lists what the app will be able to do. Each app gets its own access, which you can withdraw at any time.
episodes:read
See your name, email address, feeds, voices and private feed addresses, and list, search and read your episodes, including the text they were made from.
Check episode progress
List recent episodes
Search your episodes
Read an episode
List your feeds
List voices
Check your Readcast account
episodes:write
Make episodes from text, web pages and scripts, retry failed ones, edit an episode's details and cancel one in progress.
Make an episode from text
Make an episode from a web page
Make an episode from a script
Retry a failed episode
Edit episode details
Cancel an episode in progress
An app you approve with both scopes can use every tool on this page; one approved with episodes:read alone can only read. It cannot delete a finished episode, see your password, change your plan or payment details, or make anything public. To disconnect an app, open Manage access in your Readcast account, or remove the connector in the app.
What Readcast stores
Readcast does not receive your conversations. It sees only what your assistant sends when it uses one of the tools above.
Your account: your email address, username and plan. A password, if you set one, is stored only as a hash.
What you send: the text, web address or script behind each episode, and the article text Readcast takes from a web page. It is kept with the episode so that you, and apps you connect, can read it back.
What Readcast makes: each episode’s audio, title, show notes, series and tags. Show notes say the audio is AI-generated.
Your connections: the apps you approved and when each last used Readcast. Their access tokens are stored only as hashes.
Privacy: episodes play only through your own feed address, which works like a password. You can reset it from your account.
Providers: to make the audio, Readcast sends an episode’s text to its speech provider. The Privacy Policy names every provider Readcast uses.
Deletion: delete an episode from your library at any time, or delete your account to remove its episodes, audio, feeds and connections.
Episodes made from an AI app count against your plan’s monthly allowance, the same as episodes made on the website. See the plans.
When the allowance runs out, your assistant tells you and links to the plans page. Nothing is sold inside ChatGPT or Claude.
Free accounts also share a daily limit for AI apps. When it is reached, try again the next day.
Readcast can only fetch public web pages, not pages behind a paywall or a sign-in.
Things to ask
Once Readcast is connected, ask in your own words. For example:
“Send this report to Readcast as a narrated episode.”
“Make a two-host Readcast episode from https://example.com/article for my Morning brief feed.”
“What did my Readcast episodes say about battery storage this month?”
Scheduled briefs
Paste one into a scheduled task in ChatGPT or Claude and replace the part in brackets. Readcast creates a named feed the first time an episode is sent to it; add it to your podcast app from More feeds in your library.
Weekday morning brief
Every weekday at 7:00, find the three most important developments in [topic] from the last 24 hours. Write about 700 words of plain spoken English and send it to Readcast as a narration in my "Morning brief" feed, with the idempotency key "brief-" followed by today's date.
Weekly roundup
Every Monday at 7:00, find the most important developments in [topic] from the past seven days. Write about 1,500 words of plain spoken English, a short section for each, and send it to Readcast as a narration in my "Weekly roundup" feed, with the idempotency key "roundup-" followed by today's date.
