Who Can Use Readcast

You must be 18 or older to use Readcast. You are responsible for keeping your account, password, API keys, and private feed links secure, and for everything done with them.

Your Content And Rights

You may submit text, URLs, page clips, briefs, scripts, and other source material only when you own it, have permission to use it, it is in the public domain, or your use is otherwise lawful. You keep your rights in what you submit, and you give Readcast the limited rights needed to host, process, transform, store, and deliver it as private audio for your account.

• Readcast is for turning material into audio for your own listening. You are responsible for the source material you submit and for how you use what Readcast makes from it.
• You must not use Readcast to infringe copyright, breach a publisher's terms, get past paywalls or logins you have no right to use, defeat technical access controls, or redistribute content unlawfully.
• Some publishers have asked us not to import their pages. Readcast refuses links and page clips from those sites.

Private Podcast Feeds

Readcast feeds and audio links are private bearer links: anyone with the exact URL may be able to use them until the token is rotated or revoked. They are for your own listening. Do not publish or share them unless you have the rights to publish the underlying content. We may rotate tokens, and restrict feeds that show signs of being shared.

AI-Generated Audio

Readcast uses AI systems and text-to-speech services to narrate, adapt, summarize, and perform source material. Generated audio may contain errors, including mispronunciations and, in summaries and conversations, statements the source did not make. Review it before any public, professional, or commercial use.

Every episode is labelled as AI-generated in its metadata and feed, and audio made with Google's text-to-speech carries Google's SynthID watermark. Do not remove these labels, and do not present generated audio as a human recording or as authorized by an original publisher, author, person, or brand unless that is true.

Voice, Likeness, And Impersonation

You may not use Readcast to impersonate a person, create deceptive audio, or design or use a voice that imitates a real person without their permission. You are responsible for any consent needed for voices, likenesses, or personal data in your source material or outputs.

Prohibited Use

• Infringing, illegal, harmful, deceptive, defamatory, harassing, or privacy-invasive content.
• Attempts to bypass access controls, usage limits, authentication, or security features.
• Bulk or automated copying of third-party works, or redistributing them without lawful rights.
• Use that violates applicable law, platform rules, or third-party rights.

Notices, Takedowns, And Repeat Infringers

Anyone can report content through the notice form. A person reviews each notice; we do not use automated systems to decide what to remove. When we remove or restrict your content we tell you why and how to dispute the decision, including by copyright counter-notice.

We may disable episodes, revoke tokens, suspend accounts, and close the accounts of repeat infringers as our Copyright Policy describes.

Commercial Use

Commercial use of what Readcast makes is allowed for outputs generated from content you own, license, or are otherwise legally permitted to use commercially.

Subscriptions, Cancellations, And Refunds

Paid plans renew until cancelled. You can cancel through the billing portal. Access continues until the end of the paid period unless required otherwise by law or stated during checkout. Refund requests should be sent to support@readcast.io. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including any right to cancel a new subscription within 14 days where the law gives you one.

Our Responsibility To You

We provide Readcast with reasonable care and skill, but we cannot promise it will always be available, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose.

If we break these terms or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result, but not for loss or damage that is not foreseeable. If you use Readcast for business, we are not liable for loss of profit, business, revenue, or opportunity, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit.

Business Users

If you use Readcast for business, you will reimburse us for claims, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising from content you submitted or from how you used Readcast's outputs.

Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts for legal risk, repeat infringement, abuse, security threats, or material breach of these terms. You may delete your account at any time from account settings.

Changes To These Terms

We may update these terms. We will tell you about material changes by email or in the app before they take effect and ask you to accept them. If you do not accept, you can download your data and delete your account.

Governing Law And Disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes go to the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring proceedings in your local courts. If you are a consumer living in the European Union, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country and can bring proceedings in its courts.
